THE STORY

Everyone can picture a Kerala Onam look — cream and gold, clean and glowing. We wanted to make the one your daughter actually reaches for. It starts with the colour: a goldenish top that's neither lemon yellow nor mango orange, but the warm gold that lives exactly in between. Against a cream skirt and a gold kasavu border, it's simple, sleek and quietly shiny — the calm kind of festive. The pleats are our pride. Each one is measured and set inch by inch, because a pavadai is only as graceful as the line of its pleats — and ours are made to hold that line straight even after a hundred washes. The skirt is pure cotton with a handwoven kasavu border, and we buy that fabric straight from the source: it comes directly from the weavers of Kerala who have made it for generations. And it's made the way everything we make is made — by hand, with high care, by women in a clean, fair and dignified workshop, guided by us on quality and hygiene and by themselves on everything that matters more. The back closes with press buttons, so getting her dressed stays the easiest part of Onam morning.

Kerala cotton and kasavu like gentle handling. Cold hand-wash or a delicate machine wash with mild detergent, turn inside-out to protect the gold border, dry in shade, and press on low to keep the pleats crisp. Wash separately the first time; gentle care keeps the pleats sharp and the colours rich.
