THE STORY

Some colours you taste as much as see. This one is rich Indian grapes, drenched in rain — a deep, glowing grape that turns the classic cream-and-gold Onam look into something a little more regal. Fine golden checks run across the top, catching the light, so it reads grand from across the room and gentle up close. Because grand only shines when a child can move freely in it. We made this top to be worn all day — soft and gentle against the skin — so the little rani of the house (and the cutest little sister, and the occasional drama queen) can twirl through the whole festival and forget she's dressed up at all. Everything below the waist is the pavadai you already know: a pure cotton pleated skirt with a handwoven kasavu border, sourced straight from Kerala's weavers, with pleats measured inch by inch to hold their line even after a hundred washes. And it's made the way all our clothes are made — by hand, with high care, by women in a clean, fair and dignified workshop. The back closes with press buttons, so Onam morning stays calm.

Stitched with high care, and defined by the pleats — measured inch by inch and precision-set to fall perfectly straight and stay that way, wash after wash. The top fastens with press buttons at the back for quick, fuss-free dressing. Neat seams, a clean finish, and a hand-check on every set before it reaches you.

Care instructions

Kerala cotton and kasavu like gentle handling. Cold hand-wash or a delicate machine wash with mild detergent, turn inside-out to protect the gold border and the grape colour, dry in shade, and press on low to keep the pleats crisp. Wash separately the first time, and a mild detergent keeps the colours rich.
