THE STORY

A rich, oil-drenched, deep-forest green, the kind that looks royal and, somehow, flatters every single skin tone. We paired it with frills at the shoulders, trimmed in real Kerala kasavu, and set it over a cream skirt scattered with gold floral buti — festive, yet always easy. Grand can be hard-wearing, too. This is an outfit made for a real child's Onam: soft and gentle against the skin, and built so she can climb the tree, walk, run and jog and still look just-dressed. When we showed it to parents, it was often the dads who called it the one — the outfit for their daughter's big moments. And that's the other thing we make it for: keeping. Pure, honest fabric and careful stitching mean this is a dress for many festivals to come — the kind you fold away as a memory, and one day unfold to show the giggling granddaughters. It's made by hand, with high care, by women in a clean, fair and dignified workshop, with the same inch-by-inch pleats and hand-checks as everything we make.

Craftsmanship & stitching

Stitched with high care and made to last — reinforced where a busy child needs it, so it stands up to climbing, running and real play. Frills are hand-finished and kasavu-trimmed; the top fastens with press buttons at the back; the skirt's pleats are precision-set to fall straight wash after wash. Every set is hand-checked before it reaches you.

Care instructions

Cotton and kasavu like gentle handling. Cold hand-wash or a delicate machine wash with mild detergent, turn inside-out to protect the gold buti, border and green colour, dry in shade, and press on low to keep the pleats crisp. Wash separately the first time; a mild detergent keeps the colours rich — it's made to be kept, so treat it kindly.
