THE STORY

Some dresses are for standing still in. This one is the opposite. We started with an embroidered cotton bodice in a soft, earthy olive — all texture, effortlessly simple — and gave it a skirt of four crinkled muslin tiers. The point of those tiers is movement: they lift and fall and dance every time she runs, spins, or simply gets on with being a child. It's a frock that looks best in motion. And it's made to be lived in. Muslin is one of the softest, most breathable cottons there is — light in the heat, gentle on skin, and only softer with every wash — so this is a dress for everyday as much as occasions. Earthy, classic, and quietly pretty; the kind of thing she'll pull out of the drawer herself. It's made the way everything we make is made — by hand, with high care, by women in a clean, fair and dignified workshop, in pure fabric that's 100% suited to little ones.

A gentle wash keeps the earthy tones beautifully rich. (A little crinkle is the character of muslin — part of its charm.)
